Landflux.org is an effort to provide global estimates of carbon, water and energy exchange between terrestrial ecosystems and the atmosphere using satellite observations
Ecophysiological measurements of photosynthesis, transpiration and respiration provide information for developing process-based models for relating remote sensing observations to plant and soil fluxes.
Satellites provide measurements of the phenology of vegetation cover and weather conditions at the land surface, both critical inputs to the remote sensing models.
Micrometeorological towers from around the world provide ground-truth measurements of ecosystem fluxes for testing the remote sensing predictions.
